Check a wholesale Christmas ornament for appearance, usable writing space, hanging performance and protection during handling. The useful question is whether the product matches the agreed description and works for your retail offer. A clear checklist helps you discuss samples and incoming orders using specific observations.
For hand-personalizable resin ornaments, inspect the blank writing areas as carefully as the sculpted decoration. A design can photograph well while offering too little room for the wording your store plans to sell.
Build a reference before ordering
Record the product name or SKU, color, dimensions and supplied accessories. Keep the product images and, where available, photographs of the agreed sample. Ask the supplier which dimensions and finishing details apply to the exact variant you want.
Decide what your store needs before assessing the sample. A counter selling names written while customers wait has different practical requirements from a display selling blank ornaments. Document those requirements so your team checks consistently.
Use this sample checklist
| Area to inspect | What to look for | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Shape and surface | Chips, cracks, rough edges or visible holes | Close-up photograph and location |
| Painted decoration | Clear details and no paint covering intended writing space | Comparison with the agreed reference |
| Writing panels | Accessible surface and enough usable room | Your intended name or wording example |
| Hanging point | Visible condition and how the ornament hangs | Front and side photographs |
| Variant identity | Correct design, color and figure count | SKU and color on the order line |
| Packaging | Product separation and protection of raised details | Packing photographs before unpacking |
Inspect with ordinary good lighting and handle the sample as a customer or staff member would. Look at both front and back. Avoid destructive testing unless a test method has been agreed for a specific reason.
Check personalization with your own supplies
Use your proposed pen on a sample before making customer promises. Try short and long names, then check readability and drying under your actual handling routine. Keep lettering clear of sculpted edges where the pen may catch.
For example, a store planning to offer “Charlotte 2026” should check that wording on the intended panel. If it is crowded, decide whether to shorten the wording, move the year to another available area or select a different design. Do not assume every ornament supports the same lettering layout.
Agree how concerns will be handled
Ask how to report a quality issue and what evidence is needed. Record the affected SKU, color, quantity and photographs. Agree on relevant acceptance criteria and any order-specific inspection requirements before purchasing, rather than creating them after the goods arrive.
This visual and usability checklist does not replace any product testing or documentation required for your destination or sales channel. Discuss those requirements separately with the supplier.
Inspect the delivery before putting it on display
Compare cartons and inner boxes with your order record. Count quantities, check variant labels and inspect products before adding customer names. Photograph transit damage and retain the relevant packing while the concern is being reviewed. Ask what reporting timeframe applies to your order.
WholesaleOrnaments.com has a minimum of 12 pieces per style and color, with 12 pieces per inner box. Our ornaments arrive blank; name writing, pens and individual gift boxes are not included. Shipping is extra. These details should match both your purchasing record and your retail preparation plan.
Questions buyers often ask
Can product photographs replace a sample review? Photographs help compare designs, but cannot show how your pen behaves on the actual surface.
Which quality requirements should I send? Describe the intended use, exact variants, writing needs, packaging needs and any required testing documents.
